we have a cub scout

We spent last night in Lakewood, WA at Greyson's first Pinewood Derby. His mom and home teacher helped him with his HOT ROD, he pretty much rocked it! He had a blast AND won "The most detailed car," First place of the Wolf Den and Second overall (out of 20). WooHoo! Way to go Grey!

I love this one!
I think my brother has a picture just like this taken 27 years ago

more family photos

My sister Monica took these pictures of us Thanksgiving weekend at the Farmers in their backyard. I love them. They make me so happy. We are so blessed.

the carousel

A Farrar family tradition we have had for years (even though we skip every now and then) is riding the Christmas Carousel in downtown Seattle. This year was the first with the Quigleys joining us and we even went for the first time after Christmas, which I think I like better. Thanks Weeks Family for coming with us, maybe next year it's time to get a BIG group together again.
The very first picture James ever saw of me, which caused him to contact and eventually marry me, was taken right about at this very spot. It was fun to take a picture together there this year!

I love my family

boeuf bourguignon

For our date this week we stayed home and made a new recipe together (one of our favorite ideas for date night, haven't done it for a little while). We watched Julie and Julia a couple weeks ago. We liked the movie, but really wanted to eat the food. I found a lighter version of boeuf bourguignon and we made it last night! It was so good. I keep thinking about it. The only draw back is that it takes so long to cook (over an hour and a half), but we kept ourselves busy...we played jenga and sat by the fire.

Since we don't have a corkscrew James had to MacGyver it open

So, it's basically stew, but even better thanks to the red wine and mushrooms (two of my favorites)

the only pearls I own, pink and from the dress up box (Julia would still approve)

even brought out the crystal goblets

before James licked his plate clean
